Job Description
Fugro currently has an opportunity for an Assistant Driller to join the Marine Site Characterisation Team based in Falmouth. As an Assistant Driller, you will assist with the operation of drilling rigs, on offshore projects, to industry technical specifications and Company procedures, within Fugro standards. Your time will be spent in the field both in the UK and internationally.

Who you’ll be working with:
You will be working under the Driller or Lead Driller and will work alongside other members of the team who will be a mixture of other Assistant Drillers, Rig mechanics, Rig electricians all under the oversight of a Back-deck Supervisor.
- Here’s what a typical day would be like:
- Working shifts typically start at either 12:00 or 00:00
- Pre-shift toolbox talk thirty minutes before working shift commences
- Maintain the rig and carry out routine maintenance
- Preparation and mixing of drilling fluid products
- Ensure samples are bagged and correctly labelled before handed over to the onboard Geology team
- Working at height and on deck handling geotechnical tooling
- Handling offshore tubulars using Fugro’s purpose-built pipe handling plant
